ANS1228E Across many different clients

On Windows, Control Panel - Java Control Panel - General tab - Temporary Internet Files - View button. Delete the NetWorker Management Console applications cached.

Reconnect to your NMC host http:\\server:9000\index2.html and download current NMC. VSS is also solves the problem..

It looks like server error to me, not client side error.
Can you check if there are other errors in server activity log about the same time?

TSM Server Error: Server: IGBACKUP ANR2579E Schedule DAILY_INCR in domain STANDARD for node IGSMS1 failed (return code 12).

TSM Server Error: Server: IGBACKUP ANR2579E Schedule DAILY_INCR in domain STANDARD for node IGFTPSERVER failed (return code 12).

Just those errors w/ different client names.

Just curious are you using an option set too?? (client option set) This is for scheduled backups correct? Not manual backups? Who is the TSM CAD/SCheduler service set to run as? A specific admin id or localsystem? It could be permissions too.

No option sets.
This is scheduled backups, manual backups come back w/ no errors.
TSM CAD and TSM Scheduler are both running as Local System Account

Are there other business processes happening during the backup window? Virus protection scans or updates being pushed, OS level pushes etc? things like that? Do these errors happen every night or are there a mix and match?

in your opt files whats your CHANGINGRETRIES option set to? And you said your copy serialization is set to shared static?

There's no other business processes running during this time, no virusscans, and I don't push patches to servers w/ autoupdate or SMS I patch them manually so that's not happening either.
Some servers have failure msgs every night, others just sometimes.

I don't have the CHANGINGRETRIES parameter set in the options file, I'm assuming that means I'm using the default of 4.

Did you try to use Exclude instead of Exclude.Backup? Outside of that, I'm tapped for suggestions, but would like to know the resolution when you find out. Maybe time to contact IBM Support and open a PMR.

i am also have the same issue on some windows clients...

Yup, I'm getting similar entries in the dsmsched.log. Here's one. Keep in mind I'm NOT backing up the contents of this folder, just the directory structure because if I exclude.dir something higher it won't let me backup anything lower... You get the point.. anyways:
