ANR8779E Unable to open drive mt0.0.0.3, error number=2

Hi All,



We have two tsm servers- ver 5.1.6.2 on windows 2000 platform - with one 4560sx tape library. One server is configured as library manager server and the other as library client. While doing the backup from the library client, tapes are getting loaded into the tape library and ownership of the volume changes. Then we get the error message "ANR8779E Unable to open drive mt0.0.0.3, error number=2" and rejects the tape. This process continues until we cancel the backup. We checked the drive for read/write errors but it is working perferctly from the library manager server. Expecting reply from the Gurus. How to get the error number details? Is there any file in windows like the one errno.h in unix platforms?

Hello

I have encounter at error ANR8779E .

The problem was MISIING DEVUICE driver for the DRIVE (LTO / ULTRIUM device driver.

Hope it help.
 
I`d suggest to use tapeutil to check if the drives are pointing to the same drive names on both servers.

With PnP you cannot guarantee which drive is mt0.0.0.3 or mt0.0.0.X
