  i need your help

Dependant upon your tsm version you should check the message manual. It should give you an idea of the problem and or check your operating system for hardware errors.

Hi,

I would check for HW errors on Operating System level, maybe the drive has a dirty read write head, or the tape itself is damaged. If you have more than one tape drive, retry the operation on another drive. Have the drive checked.

Hope this helps,

Best regards,

Igor

I get the same problems on libraries with some clients.... damned as to why it's happening.... a mixture of HP/Compaq DLT and IBM 3583's so far......

It always seems to be when verifying the label of a tape prior to dismounting... strange thing is sometimes it verifies the label ok, and other times it reports errors.

Happens on both drives within the library, and also on different tapes. No errors (either read or write) recorded against the volumes.

I'm on TSM ver 5.1.6.0 on W2K.
