I am running on AIX - Not sure if this applies to other Operating Systems. Please note if you are planning to upgrade to Ver 5 (up to Ver 5.15). You cannot perform a DB restore of older ver of ADSM/TSM. IBM has no plans as of yet to fix this. Here is what IBM's workaround is: deinstall the Ver 5 Code and then reinstall the older TSM code. Perform the Restore and then reapply the Ver 5 Code. Prior to Ver 5 - you could restore any TSM DB and then run DSMSERV UPGRADEDB - everything would be okay.
Under this new procedure - You would be required to maintain a copy of your older ADSM/TSM software, manuals, SOPs, system configuration etc,,,.
I did open a PMR which is 08690 L6Q. They do have an APAR on this, but is only for documentation purposes.
IBM is ending support on TSM Ver 4.X on Apr 30, 2002.
