Having previously upgraded two TSM Servers from 6.3.6 to ISP 7.1.7 on AIX this 3rd upgrade is proving somewhat challenging?

This particular Server houses the OC, so when we've come to running './install.sh -c' and selecting 'upgrade' it appears to have only upgraded the OC to 7.1.7 but fails to identify any other server component present to upgrade from 6.3.6 to 7.1.7 i.e Server, Languages, Devices etc..??

I've rebooted the server and re-run the install but it says there are no components to upgrade??

The package I'm using is the same as the previous two successful installs.. [SP_7.1.7_AIX_S_S_AGTML.bin]. Exactly the same version and level of AIX. (Cannot go to the 8.1.x versions due to the unsupported AIX version for that level of ISP]

Anyone seen something similar to this and know how to resolve?

Thanks

You shouldn't select upgrade option, you should go with install option.
Upgrade is usually for a fixpack and not a newer version.

lol, you're welcome.. don't forget to register license.

reg lic file=*.lic

Hmm don't ever remember having to do that to the previous 2 servers I updated from 6.3.6 > 7.1.7 and their licence compliance says its OK..

This one however is not!!

The tsmee.lic file located in /opt/Tivoli/tsm/server/bin/ is exactly the same as the one on the other 2 servers I upgraded?

Even restarted dsmserv a few times also!!?

Did you choose the license component when you ran the installation of ?

Hi SElias,

Found what the problem was.. Unfortunately the package I used to install ISP 7.1.7 AIX was one supplied by IBM via the IBM FTP site, thus it wasn't part of our OEM.

Had to revert back to using our own OEM package in order for the License feature to be presented as an option when running ./install.sh -c

All sorted now thanks..

Yup, some confuse the FTP for a licensed package .. it can only be obtained from passport advantage.
