I am faced with the delimma of choosing between a 3494 library or a 3584 library - both with 3592 drives. I currently have two 3494 libs with 3590 drives and plan to upgrade in a few months with the objective of consolidating to a single lib.
I currently have two independent TSM servers attached to two 3494 libraries. I plan to add a third TSM server, create a media master and 2 media clients all attached to the new library through a SAN with about a dozen SAN Storage agents of mixed OS (AIX,Solaris & Win).
My question is - Do you have any experience with a 3584 lib and what things should I watch out (operationally or configuration - both TSM and the lib) for if I do get a 3584? One thing I am concerned about is I/O of media since I will probably transfer 40-60 tapes to my offsite vault and about the same number will return each day. Other than a lack of redundant robotics, the 3584/3592 combination is impressive.
You response is greatly appreciated.
Thank you,
NeilB
