It doesn't need no entries. Any entries like -tcps and -tcpp specified in the .opt file will be overridden by those specified in the command line. My laptop is setup to backup to a single server, so I have that info in dsm.opt, but I use dsmadmc -tcps=.... all the time to access other servers.If you have, delete all entries and leave the dsm.opt blank; dsm.opt MUST exist with no entries.
It is important however that all the options in dsm.opt are valid. I suspect the OP has a Windows machine with SERVERNAME in it which is AIX/Unix/Linux option only.
