Hi all,

a general question, is it possible to create a Backupset of a TDP (Exchange) Nodes ?
and can DTP Data restored from Backupsets ?
(from TSM Manuals it seems that just BA Client Data can be handled from Backupsets)
Info: TSM V7

thanks in advanced,
Mario

Hi,

You can export nodes to tape/files. But you will need a tsm server (spectrum protect server) to import the data when you want to access it again. Not the answer you liked, but I do not know any other methods.

No.

It's almost pointless to do export to tapes though, if the data is already on tape to begin with, may as well increase the retention because you are using a tape for it one way or the other. A better approach would be to use this method to keep daily backups for a short period and keep periodic backups for a longer period: http://www-01.ibm.com/support/docview.wss?uid=swg21624164

If you decide to go with export/import, you have to be careful with management class retention when importing, the data has the potential to expire the next time expiration runs. It's a good idea to temporarily disable expiration if importing data that is older than retention.
