It can do - checkpoints are markers and ideally suited for large,
large file based backups. for example, if you are backing up 3TB of Data on a
volume, it may be prudent to have a "check point"
enabled.
I
usually have it set for 2 hours (I think the default is 15 mins!) and seems to
work for us.
