Yes it depends on the situation. Also you missed off an important part of my
reply in your last post.
I stated the following "As long as you can get the data that needs to be
backed up, and you identify the reason for the "1" .....
Therefore, as long as you identify the problem, and you can resolve it fine;
If not (for example, Windows create certain perfmon keys that don't get
backed up well, you have an option to exclude or ignore.
As long as you can get the Data back that you intend to backup, and you
identify the problem, I don't class status 1 as a failure.

That really, really depends on your particular situation. You can get a
status 1 if you try to back up an active Oracle or SQL database. The
database will not be restorable. You can back up Exchange live and get a
status 1 - you won't get anything useful on a restore of it either.

Anything that's not restorable is a failure, no matter if it's a status 1 or
higher.
