There must be something changing the attributes on the files. Here are
some links about the file attributes and in particular the archive bit.
I had problems when we first tried to convert our backups from Backup
Exec to NetBackup. The archive bit was set by the backup software that
ran first so the next one wouldn't back files up.

=20

ATTRIB is the command to view attributes. I would investigate this
further and try to determine what's causing this.

=20

You could try this: In Client Properties->Windows Client->Client
Settings, the default for Incrementals is Based on archive bit. Change
it to Based on timestamps.

=20

Here are a couple of links about the file attributes and backups.

Subject: [Veritas-bu] Problem with Full / Incr Backup

=20

Morning

I have a really strange problem, that I cannot understand myself, but
hoping someone can help!

=20

On Friday, I scheduled a FULL backup on a client computer - holds 2TB of
Data. I streamed the backups so the following drive letters were backed
up as follows:

=20

L:, P:, Q:, M:, N:, O: & R:

=20

Came in Monday and got error 96 - no more tapes available for 2 streams
(Drives R: & O: did not complete). The remainder drive letters were
backed up successfully. I then performed a full backup on these 2
letters again after putting more tapes into the Robot. This now
completed successfully.

=20

Yesterday, I ran the normal Incremental Policy for the same drive
letters. I have come in this morning to find that drive letters N: & L:
are still running, and in fact M:, P: & Q: took OVER 20 hours to do!!

=20

There has been no large amounts of Data placed on these drives, yet it
seems to be doing what looks like a full backup. The Incrmental for
drive letters R: & O: completed in under 30 mins.

=20

I dont want to stop the 2 streams running in case Netbackup starts all
over again. Can anyone guide me as to where I could start looking into
this problem?

=20

Yours

Simon
