you may want to check the /etc/xinetd.d file. Linux uses that rather
than the /etc/inetd.conf. If you don't have that setup, there will be
no communication taking place.

A wild guess, cd /usr/openv/bin; ldd *
Do you have the libc-compat- libraries installed?
This may be one reason for those errors.
Make sure all your binaries are properly linked to all libraries.

Subject: [Veritas-bu] Linux Client troubleshooting
=20
Hi all, I have installed the NetBackup client to a Linux machine and I
am having trouble getting the backups to work.
=20
I have installed on several other Linux machines at same OS levels/NB
Client versions with no problems.
=20
Whenever I try a backup the status ends in 57, client connection
refused.
=20
I verified its not a firewall issue. I actually had the firewall guy
show me the ports he has granted access for on this server.
I did all the troubleshoointg, i.e. telnet hostname 13782, check inetd.d
directory, netstat -an |grep 1378 shows Listening on these ports, etc...
=20
The only thing I can find, when I login to the Linux Server and do
nslookups or digs everything is find for name resolution.
But when I run bpclntcmd -server master-server I get the following...
=20
./bpclntcmd -hn master
host master: master.domain at 1.1.1.1 (0x4f340a0a)
checkhname: aliases:
=20
and instead of completing and giving me back my prompt, it hangs at the
checkhname: aliases.
=20
Has anyone seen anything like this before? I'm hoping someone here can
shed some light before I have to go to the hell that is opening a case
with Veritas Support...
=20
Thanks,
Taylor
