I am sure you have gone here, but...

=20

Check the /etc/nsswitch.conf to see your name lookup precedence.

Check file permissions within /usr/openv. Saying it cannot write to
STDOUT implies some sort of permission-related issue.

=20

I have seen this error come across this list before, but I cannot
remember what was done/how it was fixed. Sorry...

Subject: [Veritas-bu] Interesting problem with ONE client

=20

Added a Solaris 8 client recently, with NBU 5.0 MP3 and I'm having one
of two problems.

=20

With the client's fully qualified domain name specified in the CLIENT=3D
line of the bp.conf, it fails with error 40.

=20

With the client's short name in the bp.conf, it fails with error 24,
accompanied by the following error in the bpbrm log:

=20

bpbrm handle_backup: from client dbostapp2: ERR - Cannot write to
STDOUT. Errno =3D 32: Broken pipe

=20

For the status 24, I find lots of OLD questions, like from 2003
timeframe on Veritas' support site, and newgroups, but no solutions
other than NIC duplex mismatch, or multiple CLIENT=3D lines in the
bp.conf, both of which I've eliminated.

Everything has been checked and double checked....in each case, the
machine is backing up fine, then after backing up several hundred megs,
or even several gigs on a FULL, it fails.......

=20

checked resolution, forwards and backwards, of all involved nodes, and
everything is clean.

Network is clean.

bp.conf is clean.

=20

This machine is one of about 16 added all at the one time, and all are
identical.....this is the ONLY one with this issue.

Paul
