[Veritas-bu] RE: LTO-2 Recoveries

You have to either use vmchange to change the media type from hcart to
hcart2 for the tapes you wish to restore or modify the media type of one of
the LTO-2 tape drives to hcart for the restore. I recommend the vmchange
approach. I had a similar upgrade recently. I would keep any Gen1 media
out of the new unit unless you want to write to it during your backups
(except when you are restoring of course)

I am introducing new LTO-2 tape drives, which are replacing LTO-1 drives,
needless to say that all of my current data is written on LTO-1 media
I have a new storage node with LTO-2 (hcart2) drives configured and when I
attempt to perform a recovery from the LTO-1 media (hcart) I get errors. The
error message states that the "Requested number of drives are not
configured".
Are there any settings that I need to put in place in order for the LTO-2
drives to recover LTO-1 media?
