Very possible, since by default NBU will not mix retention levels on
tape.

You can run the AVAILABLE_MEDIA script from the goodies directory which
will give you an overview.

Or download some of the scripts from http://www.backupscripts.com some
of which have gone beyond the basic functionality of the available_media
script.

Okay, it seems that any backup with a retention time of 2 weeks is being
rejected, but if i increase the retention time to a month, those backups
will run. Can images with different retention times live on the same
tape?

Is it possible that I am 'full' of 2 week retention images?...

pardon my ineptitude but I've never spent the time to learn that much
about netbackup, it's always just worked...

version 4.5 fp3 business server using sun L9 lto autoloader 

all of a sudden (as of last night at 2:20 am) netbackup thinks that
there
are no storage units available. I have only 3 full tapes out of 9, and
no
tapes are in a frozen state. I've put in the log directories for bpbkar,
bpcd, bpdbm, bprm, bpsched, and bptm at the request of sun support but
after sending them the logs I haven't heard anything back.

do you have any advice on what i should try next to kick this thing in
the
head and make it start working?
