I would take the MediaDB on the master out of the picture before starting
the process again by moving the volumes in it to another media server's
MediaDB using
bpmedialist -mlist -h <master>
to get a list of all of the media assigned and in use by the master (for
bpmedialist, not -M for everything on master... a.k.a. all media servers
with configured STUs, but -h to show only those on master server) and then
use
bpmedia -movedb -m <media> -newserver <existing media server> -oldserver
<master>
to move the media off of the master. then you can repopulate the MediaDB
on the master by moving them back after the migration or just leave them
on the new media server.

After talking with Veritas support this morning (& hearing the
official stance on how unsupported this process is), I did gather some
helpful information on what components I should have migrated and
which should not have been. My sense now is that the volDB is okay,
and that the mediaDB is what has been broken. I ran dos2unix on the
whole netbackup/db tree, and I suspect I broke mediaDB in the
process. I think I'll scrap the data I currently have on the Solaris
server and try the restore steps again, but this time be more
selective in what "text" files I convert.
Opinions?
