Hello Andrew,
I 'm doing exactly the same thing as you described in your mail and had also
41-type errors with individual mailbox backup.
Since I changed the client read timeout to 1800 seconds on the client
properties under the universal settings tab, the timeout error disappeared.
Try this one and if you still get timeouts, put a higher value for the
client read timeout.
I also breaked up the mailbox list alphabetically and multiplex 8 mailboxes
at a time.
My performance is about 10000KBps for the IS Exchange backup and 400-800KBps
for the mailboxes but my mediaserver is connected to a 100 Mb Ethernet and
uses also LTO1 drives.
Robert

Subject: [Veritas-bu] Brick-level Exchange Backup Performance
I'm using NBU 4.5 FP5 and trying to perform mailbox backups of Exchange 5.5.
The IS is about 150GB and both the Exchange server and NBU media server are
on 1Mb Ethernet. Tape library is sporting LTO1 drives. Regular IS/DS
Exchange backups run around 15000KBps (yeah, still trying to squeeze more
out). Mailbox backups run at only 400KBps, and often error out with a 41.
I have tried breaking up the file list to backup mailboxes alphabetically
(all the A's, then all the B's...) but jobs still die with a 41 when I get
to the Wheel of Fortune letters (R, S, T, L, N, E...). I have tried
multistreaming several letters at once, I have tried one at a time, and I
have tried one big fat job, but they always run really slow and often throw
41's.
Has anybody had similar issues? Overcome them?
Thanks!
Andrew
