there are a few reasons something like this would happen and you might do
something different to fix it, depending on what you're actually looking
for and what else is going on when these two jobs run.
- the data could be using a different retention level. tell NetBackup to
mix retention levels (not recommended. make sure you know the
ramifications) or change the retention levels to be the same.
- the jobs could be queueing at the same time and there are available
drives, so it runs. use multiplexing to put them on the same drive at the
same time or point them at a storage unit that is limited to only one
drive.
my advice... read the NetBackup Troubleshooting Guide to get a better
understanding of how it actually works under the covers and then you'll
know why it's doing this. I think in many cases, the knowledge that can
be gained from this manual is the difference between you controlling
NetBackup or NetBackup controlling you.

Subject: [Veritas-bu] writing to a tape
hi,
i noticed that NBU uses 2 tapes to backup data which is about 10GB in
size.
which wastes alot of my tapes.
how do i restrict NBU to fill up a tape before using the next tape?
thanks
