Nope, once a tape has been allocated to a pool it stays there unless moved
by the SA. It basically becomes a part of that Pools tape rotation.

You could tar and untar it to a seperate location and inspect
it. Generally, as long as you follow proper procedure (no tape activity,
etc), the database should be consistant. Of all the backups, this one is
really nothing more that a tar archive put to tape, and while critical for
operation, isn't all that complex....
