I think you can find this answered a few times in the archives...but =
here
you go.

Let's say you have a total of 10 drives available for your backup =
server.
When you create your storage units, make sure the total number of =
drives
configured in all the storage units totals to 9 drives.  This will =
prevent
NetBackup from using that 10th drive for backups because it's not in a
storage unit.  Since NetBackup doesn't use storage units when it's
performing a restore, that 10th drive WILL be used for restores.  This =
has
been around since at least version 3.2

is it possible in some way to tell NBU 3.4.1 to keep a drive always
available for restores? Or is there a workaround or any other way to do
this?
I would not like to have a drive down all the time if possible.
Will a special feature be implemented in 4.5?
