Not naïve at all - quaint maybe ;-))
Sounds like we have the same funding model! I don't know about yours but ours
won't be 'bursting' again any time soon - well not for the next couple of years
at least.
We bought our DataDomain when it was owned by DataDomain (not EMC). I guess
we'd had it about 12 months before they were taken over. I'm not saying it
would have been any cheaper if DD still owned it but I do wonder.
It'll be quite a wrench to go back to tape. We also use Veeam Backup &
Replication for our virtual stuff and that can't write directly to tape so some
big changes ahead!
