[Networker] verify part of old saveset
2011-08-08 08:55:13
hello
im having a little trouble which the experienced users out there will be able
to solve in a handshake i think...
users reported that the content of a specific directory has disappeared and
they want it back. the browse time policy for that directory is only 6 weeks or
so, so no luck there.
the saveset has had a full backup on 1/1/2011. the saveset has expired
actually, but is luckily still on tape X in the machine. no issues thus far.
what i need to see is: how many bytes were written to directory X within that
saveset? or even better, how can i verify the files in that directory on that
specific saveset?
i did a scanner on that specific tape, i know that the save set i want is
completely on 1 tape, but even after that i dont know how to verify what is in
that directory.
i usually manage with networker, but never had e decent education, so i
sometimes struggel with basics like this - any help is kindly appreciated
(i tried to recover the saveset just like that, with indicating in the
interface only directory X is needed, but even then it wrote 0 bytes)
i need to know specifics here because i feel a fight with the user coming up :D
they say their stuff was there in April and i strongly suspect thats not the
case.
thanks in advance guys
gr
steven
