Re: [Networker] "error, no matching devices" after upgrade to 7.6.2

Hello Jee
Thanks for the info, it looks like I have the problem you describe.
What do you mean by : - Nw server index is nested ?
Top of the configuration tree: "backupserver.domain.com"
NWserver klient config name: "backupserver"
hosts file:
<ip> backupserver
<ip> backupserver.domain.com
What is the safe way to rename the server ?
Thanks
Eivind

Hi Eivind
If this problem occurs with server-only backups (i.e. index and bootstrap),
then check:
- who is the device owner (top of the configuration tree).
- Nw server index is nested
It can happen if the name of the server has changed after an upgrade as a
consequence of an old swapping of hostname<-->FQDN on the hosts file.
If the current name is "backupserver" but it used to be "backupserver.domain"
before the upgrade, then the "backupserver.domain" name will still be the
owner of the devices while "backupserver" will be the server name and the one
expected to own the devices that backup index and bootstrap.
I have seen this problem in several occasions and always after upgrades from
7.4.* or 7.3.* to 7.5+.
The problem was solved by swapping hostname and FQDN back on the hosts file
and renaming the NW server back to the old name (FQDN or hostname --
whichever was he old one)
