Hi all.

Many of you have one time or another struggled with network problems when
implementing Networker backup client/server.

What utilities have you been using to diagnose that kind of problems?

I'm hoping someone can bring some educated technic to this discussion to
use for advanced network troubleshooting to be used with networker issues
as seen from the networker admin, but not from the Cisco admin. As a Legato
NW admin I'm always feeling more and more that I realy need to know more
networking.

utilities I've used are such as:

netstat -nab <update interval in sec>
to see status of connections between client and server over time as well as
the PID.

pslist
to check and see the process with the PID which netstat tells me about.
Somehow I think it would be interesting to have a program that would give
me a history of netstat with the clock and the info from a program such as
pslist.

rpcinfo -p
check port connection between client and server

ping -a <IP address>
check rev name resolution

pingplotter
to see connectivity history over time
