Searching for NetWorker bin 'pathownerignore' file.

savefs winmon.uvm.edu: succeeded.

Anyone running 7.4.4 or 7.4.x at all and seen these messages about a machine not owning a path because the path is owned by that machine?

I've had a case open with EMC on this for some time for a customer, with engineering still investigating. It's been low priority because while it's an error, the backups are actually succeeding, and recoveries work too.

The problem occurs where there is a discrepancy on the client between its name and DNS - either caused by being in a DMZ and the local name is different from DNS used by NSR to reach it, or simply aliases.

In fact, there's a simple reproduction method for it that I'll give below.

Further testing showed that while it appeared in 7.4.4, it's not there when you go up to 7.5.1 on BOTH server and client - if you do it only on the server it's not sufficient.

Here's what I did to reproduce:

1. Server name 'rhltst1', defined in DNS
2. Client defined as 'rhltst2' in DNS, but with /etc/hosts and local hostname of 'sneezy'. 3. Create client 'rhltst2' in NetWorker, with aliases of 'rhltst2' and 'sneezy'.
4. Run backup of 'rhltst2'.
4. Backup completes with the accompanying error message everyone is talking about.
