I'm not sure about the error but here's a few things you can try (in
this order):

1) Make sure your networker server and client can resolve each other's
forward and reverse entries
2) You may want to test to make sure all the ports are open between the
two clients by running a rpcinfo -p NWSERVER from the client and rpcinfo
-p CLIENT from the networker server
3) If the first two tests are successful, kick off a backup from the
command line on the networker server "savegrp -G GROUPNAME -c CLIENT
-vvvvv (this will run the backup in verbose mode which will give you a
lot more information that running it from the gui)

Hope this helps..

Hi,

Server: NetWorker v7.4.4 running under Windows Server 2003 Standard SP2
Client: NetWorker v7.4.2 running under Windows Server 2003 Standard SP2

I have a client that is refusing to back up, generating this error:

40473:savegrp: command ' save -s nwserver -g WIN_SERVERS -LL -f - -m
cerberus -t 1242421306 -l incr -q -W 78 -N "C:\\" "C:\\"' for client
cerberus exited with return code 128.
7336:savegrp: Log file E:\Program
Files\Legato\nsr\tmp\sg\WIN_SERVERS\sso.000003 is empty.
savegrp:WIN_SERVERS * cerberus:C:\ Cannot determine status of backup
process. Use mminfo to determine job status.

I've done a search of the archives (and the web) but can't find what
return code 128 denotes. Can anybody out there shed any light?

I know Michael Leone posted a query similar to this back in November but
he didn't get any responses - via the list anyway - I'm hoping for
better luck.

Best regards,

Vince
