You can recover to the SAN volume if it's shared ( map a drive) or locally 
to where such  a drive is assigned as long as the server in question is 
legato client.

Is it possible to recover files from a tradisional server backup to a SAN 
volume. I would assume in I would have to specify where to recover to 
based on the SAN volume path example /vol/SharedFolders1/EngLab
