[Networker] VCB 1.5, NW, and multi-pathing (Powerpath)
2008-12-20 09:17:06
Hello Networkers -
According to this vmware doc, PowerPath is now supported on the VCB
(v1.5 only) proxy server.

Is anyone here using it/seen it, and see any benefit from it? (We do not
have any powerpath licenses being primarily an ESX/Vcenter shop, so
seeking info on this - I can't see any justification for it other than
load-balancing over hba's, but just double-checking)...
Lastly, I would like to put a SAN LUN as the VCB staging area since it
does not reside on our NW server. Is there any way to zone this lun so
it does not show up in Vcenter as a "new disk" should a user go to "Add
Disk"? I'm pretty sure the answer is no, since the volume needs to be
"seen" by the ESX servers, but just double-checking. (I really don't
want vm admins to see that volume as a new disk in ESX, and possibly
format it by accident)...
Thanks!
Jamie
