I am sure this has been discussed in the past, but after going through
the documentation on this subject I must be confused. I am currently
running NW version 6.1 build 186 on a solaris box running sun os 8.
Everything works well for the most part, but now as part of a DR plan, I
am being asked to create a clone or copies of my monthly fulls to be
removed from the library and moved offsite using IronMountain. Nice
idea, and shouldn't be too difficult to do, I thought. Looked through
the gui and realized that there were basically two methods: cloning
volumes and cloning sessions. After going through the manuals and
looking for suggested approaches, I went ahead and set up a clone pool
and slapped some tapes in for my first clone process. I was interested
in cloning my last full backup, and without knowing just how to
determine how to figure out what all was needed, found the 5 tapes that
were used for the last full backup and selected those 'volumes' for
cloning volumes. However, I am now on tape number 6 from the clone pool
to backup the 5 tapes that I believed were used/required/comprised the
last full backup. So I have a few questions if you wouldn't mind:

1) what is the best mechanism to determine just what was used for the
last full backup
2) what is the suggested approach for offsite storage of cloned backups
3) any other questions I haven't asked?

Any additional information and details would be MOST appreciated.

Thank you in advance
Michael Weiner
