The scratch pool idea I mentioned in another message will do this. It is
a strategy that I frequently use.
Note the difference between marking a tape as recyclable and recycling
it. If you mark it as recyclable (pre 7.3) you make ALL clones of that
save set recyclable. Recycling the tape is better because it only
recycles the tape you specify. 7.3 and above is a bit different because
it supports different retentions for different clones of the same save
set, but AFAIK it only does it in a half hearted way. I don't know much
about 7.3 as I have been deliberately avoiding it.
