[Networker] Administrivia: The holiday season
2007-07-11 05:38:23
It's that time of year when many people are taking their holidays (or
vacations, depending on where you come from) and the NetWorker list
frequently receives postings from brain-dead mail clients informing us
unnecessarily that their owner is away getting a sun-tan.
PLEASE if you are setting an "out of office" message, consider whether
it will send messages to mailing lists as well as real people. It it
does, then please disable mail delivery from the NetWorker list before
you go away. It is easy to do from the web control panel at
https://listserv.temple.edu/cgi-bin/wa?SUBED1=networker&A=1
Alternatively, you could subscribe to the list from a different email
address where you don't need to set the auto-responder. I'm sure most of
us have acccess to multiple email accounts, one way or another.
If you don't do this, the list admins WILL disable mail delivery for
your email address and additionally will set your address for moderation
on all postings. However, this only happens after your "out of office"
message has gone to 1800+ subscribers and caused inconvenience to the
list admins, who maintain this list unpaid.
Thank you for your co-operation.
To sign off this list, send email to listserv AT listserv.temple DOT edu and type
