I Have used this product and would say that it very powerful. If you have a 
large estate and several backup servers then this will provide you with 
more detailed, custom, and flexible reporting. NMC is fime for smaller 
sites or if you want basic reporting, but i have found it can be slow and 
not easy to customise, in addition NMC should be left to perform its main 
task of administration and not get bogged down with running lots of reports.
It is also useful where you wish to report on other backup products or if 
you wish to intergrate with other reporting or alerting tools
