I've been looking at Sun's new x4500 server, and (though unable to
aquire one anytime soon) made me think about ZFS and the adv_file
device.

I know NW cannot currently backup a ZFS partition; However, since it
also does not backup the contents of an adv_file device either, does
that allow us to use a large (multi-terabyte) ZFS device as part of
the Disk Backup Option?

I'm thinking this would hinge on the ability of a pre-6/06 Solaris app
to be able to do ordinary read/write to that partition, without
worrying about the new ACL subsystem. Also depends on what Solaris
libraries Networker is linking to I suppose (given recent discussion),
though for now let's assume a 7.2.x server install.

I'm definately curious if someone has tried this. It would be nice to
know fron a DR standpoint, so that I'd not have to worry about getting
another Veritas license bootstrapped during reconstruction.

Thanks in Advance,
