Hello,
Take a look at the answer below, this was a very sticky problem that i
finally resolved, We have LTO2 with DDS\SN, also you may want to go up on
the error count allowed per device to high number, someone pointed out this
has been an issue too.
There is also a MS article on TUR ( Tape unit ready)issue that needs to be
fixed on W3K machines, check KB on MS.
After over a week of trouble, sometimes caused by vendors who do not
understand or support their own hardware or architecture, i have the answer
to the problem we were experienced.
It all comes down to the driver on the servers in question, after doubting
the SAN architecture, zoning techniques and my own knowledge of Networker
functionality, i have the storage node that is working, IBM's own website
has poor documentation on available drivers and multiple drivers or same
OS's, it did not help the matter that i had a driver that caused bluescreen
on windows2003 64 bit OS, and the only drivers that do work were hidden
from me under various subfolders.
It might be true that either i need same version level of drivers between
storagenode server and Master server for the solution to work, to
complicate things i have two different flavors of OS in the mix , one
Windows 2003 64 duel core cpu and one 32 bit version of 2003 OS, they both
had different driver level at one point.
The other thing that i need to clear out is whether or not same lun numbers
should or shouldn't be assigned to the storage node servers, this may be
coincidental that the problem appear to resolve when i assigned higher lun
numbers to sn server vs same at some point, but i am pretty sure its the
IBM tape drivers that was able to get around the issues.
The driver level i have now is 6.1.2.30 and they work.
Thanks for all your help in troubleshooting this issues, i have learned a
few things myself.
