Sorry, but no, that's not the problem. The T950 is completely agnostic
about cleaning tapes.
Have you checked for other issues involving that tape library, such
as connectivy problems? Does the /var/adm/messages log show anything
out of the ordinary? Can you see the tape library and all its devices
with the inquire command?
