Mark,

When your tapes arent being used to at least their default (uncompressed)
capacity or very close to it then in my experience it will usually point to
something being wrong.

Legato will mark a tape full and unmount it if it gets excessive errors on
it - perhaps a dirty drive / old tapes. I have seen before that it could
even be some errors creeping in on your SCSI channel (cabling /
termination).

Just my thoughts,

Good Luck!

Riaan

All,

Why are some of my tapes that are marked FULL holding 19GB or 31GB or even
36GB of data? Why would they not all fill up to the same size? I wondering
if I'm not utilizing my tape storage to their potential. And is there any
way to force each tape to use the maximum capacity. I'm using AIT cartridges
w/ 100GB and 260GB compressed.

Thanks,
Mark
