Hey Teresa,

I have created one client entry for each one of the groups. The client
entries have the browse/retention times set in them. The clients in the
groups have schedules like below.

- 1800_B30DaysR30Days
ClientA -(Sched) Full Every Friday/incr every other day/Skip
First
        backupserver1 - 30 day retent/browse
Friday of the month
- 1800_B30DaysR1Year
ClientA - (Sched) Full on first Friday every month only/Skip
first
        backupserver1 - 30 day browse/ 1 year retent
Friday of the year
- 1800_B30DaysR7Years
ClientA - (Sched) Full First Friday of the year
        backupserver1 - 30 day browse/ 7 year retent

If you need help setting up schedules like these let me know.

I let Legato recycle the offsite tapes. One note on this: it seems that
the indexes don't have the same retention rules as the rest of the
client, so to get around this you either have to change them after the
fact with nsrmm, or add a client entry to each one of your groups for
your backup server. Then set the appropriate retention/browse for that
group, by doing that it makes the indexes backed up within that group
follow that retention/browse times.

Hope this helps,

Joel

Couple of questions:

o Is each of your clients in only one group?
o Do you let Networker automatically recycle your tapes? You mention
that you use a script to recycle tapes that are on site, but what about
the off site tapes?

Thanks.
Teresa
