Exchange 2007
Trying to restore an SG to an RSG on an alternate exchange2007 server using
legacy restore.
According to the doc,
“When performing a Legacy restore of mailbox databases, if a Recovery Storage
Group exists, mailbox databases will be restored to the Recovery Storage Group
instead of to the original storage group. … If you want to restore the
Exchange Server 2007 storage group into the Recovery Storage Group, an
alternate storage group, or into a relocated storage group, right-mouse click
on the storage group that you selected for restore. A dialog box with a
drop-down list of available storage groups to restore into will display. If an
existing storage group does not display in the ″Restore Into″ dialog box, it
may mean that the correct databases for the storage group have not been
created. You must create the databases within a storage group before performing
a ″Restore Into″ function. Select the storage group name that you wish to
restore into from the drop-down list.”
However, when I right-click, the “help” pops up instead. I’ve tried this on
both the recovery server and on the production mailbox server with the same
results. When my exchange admin tried it yesterday on the recovery server, it
looked like it dismounted the production database, as if it was trying to
restore there instead of to the recovery server she was logged into (the
recovery failed, thank goodness, they only had to remount the prod db).
Of course the mailbox that we are trying to get back is one of the execs, so we
need it asap…
Thanks,
