I have the same issue, AIX 5.3 TSM 5.4.1.0, TS3500, LTO2 but only on a
single drive. I put this drive online and it works for a couple of hours
then the ANR8963E.
Some temp errors show in the AIX error log, but only for this drive. The
drive tested ok but was replaced anyway. No errors on the san, none on
the library itself.

The only complicating factor is that TSM Server runs as non-root so san
discovery is not available.

I've been running with the drive offline for a month now, since the
afternoon it first happened and still have no clue as to where to go from
here to debug it.

All I know is if I put it back on line I get woken up sometime in the early
hours - so its staying offline for now :)

We started seeing this error after we upgrade to 5.4.2.0
ANR8963E Unable to find path to match the serial number defined for
drive XXXXXX in library IBM3494
This error causes the path to go off-line. We update the path with
AUTODETECT=YES and it fixes the path every time. But the error will
happen again and again... but to a random drive.

IBM asked us to turn on SAN Discovery to resolve the error which has
generated this error:
ANR1791W HBAAPI wrapper library /usr/lib/libHBAAPI.a(shr_64.o) failed to
load or is missing.

We are running AIX 5.3 and the correct version of the API is loaded.
This whole thing is starting to drive us nuts with paths dropping every
day and with IBM not having a solution yet.

Does anyone have a solution to these errors? We are stuck and IBM is
working on it.

AIX 5.3
TSM 5.4.2.0

A very static tape SAN
