How are other large Mac sites addressing the delimiter conversion from
':' to '/' for all variables in the User prefs and Sys prefs? I'm being
told by TSM support to program it as they don't see any obvious ways to
change the PASSWORDDIR variable from the TSM server.

Right now I'm trying to figure out how to tell which disk is the bootup
disk. The startup disk(typically Macintosh HD) will just be a / to
start. If it isn't a startup disk, I'll have to substitute
/Volumes/diskname. It looks like the easiest way is to look at /Volumes
and find the links to / and do a substitute that way. Is there a more
obvious way?

I think the other variables will come in line after this is resolved.
