Well, it backs up databases.....................
So it will backup the pointers and not the flat files the contents of
the DB
points to.

But those flat files will be backed up by the normal incremental, and
if they remain static,
should not be a lot of overhead.

We are trying to estimate the resource requirements for TSM backups
of a new clinical system. The system will have a MicroSoft SQL
database. Most of the space used by the database will be occupied
by scanned images of paper charts and digital images from diagnostic
equipment. According to the application manager each image will reside
in a flat file with some sort of pointer to the flat file inside the
database files. How will TDP handle the images? Will it just back
up the pointers in the database files, or will it read and backup
all the flat files?
