Hello,

TDP will just backup the pointers.
TSM will need to backup the images.

Subject: MS SQL database with images

We are trying to estimate the resource requirements for TSM backups of a new
clinical system. The system will have a MicroSoft SQL database. Most of the
space used by the database will be occupied by scanned images of paper charts
and digital images from diagnostic equipment. According to the application
manager each image will reside in a flat file with some sort of pointer to
the flat file inside the database files. How will TDP handle the images? Will
it just back up the pointers in the database files, or will it read and
backup all the flat files?
