We didn't move any backups, we did fresh backups
but I will move archives using the server to server export
feature in 5.??.

The old server had just 20T of data.

Our tapes, 9840's, were not managed by ca1 or any other tape mgmt software. I
defined tapes
explicitly to tsm. We are a small organization, which is why the mainframe is
on the way out
not only for tsm but for everything.

You may be able to reuse the media, but you can't transport the backup data
from server to
server. You will need to do fresh backups or exports & imports.

The library on mvs is an stk silo, on solaris it is and stk l700e managed by
tsm.
