I'm migrating some LTO G1 tapes to G2 media. The old 3583 library changer
died, so I just popped the old tapes into the new IBM 3582 library with G2
drives to do move media on them. The new library won't mount some tapes,
get this message:
08/31/03 01:56:52 ANR8944E Hardware or media error on drive DRIVE02
(/dev/rmt1) (OP=TESTREADY, Error Number=110, CC=0,
KEY=03, ASC=14, ASCQ=00,
SENSE=70.00.03.00.00.00.00.1C.0-
0.00.00.00.14.00.34.00.63.53.00.00.00.02.00.20.20.20.20.-
20.20.02.00.03.FA.EC.CB.01, Description=An
undetermined
error has occurred). Refer to Appendix D in the
'Messages' manual for recommended action.
Others of the old tapes mount and read fine, as do the new G2 tapes. The
drive gets a "4" in the display, which the manual helpfully identifies as
a "firmware or tape drive problem". I don't have good copypool tapes for
these tapes (don't ask) so I'd really like to read them.
Has anyone else seen this in a G1 to G2 migration?
Here's the details...
AIX 4.3.3.11
TSM 5.1.7.0
Atape 8.1.3
Library firmware 217B
Drive firmware 35N2 (this is 1 version behind the code listed for 3584,
but the latest listed for the 3582). Does anybody know if there is a
fixlist for the firmware somewhere?
