This is a great question.  I usually try and increase my TSM server
bufpoolsize higher than IBM's recommendation because it does increase
performance.  IBM's recommendation is that you only need 2GB of RAM.  I
would say 2 is a good amount, or you could even go to 4GB.

I am big on making the recommendation use multiple TSM server instance
on large RS/6000 and pSeries boxes.  In this case multiple TSM servers
could each utilize one or so gig of RAM.

But now with the new pSeries LPARs, I think I will be making the
recommendation to utilize a complete partition with a TSM instance.

How much memory can/will a TSM Server use? Is there a limitation in
either 32 or 64 bit mode?  We are going to bring in a new server. Should
it have 1GB? 2GB? 4GB? 8GB?  What is realistic and what is overkill?
