Hiya,

I have been carrying out a lot of upgrade testing to go from 4.2.2.0 server
up to 5.1.6.2 server. We have numerous client versions and platforms that
all seem happy to work with the 5.1.6.2 server. In terms of the steps taken
I had to do the following...

Install 5.1.5.0 from the base CD installation
reboot as per the bosboot reconfig recommendation
Install 5.1.6.0 (downloaded)
reboot as per the bosboot reconfig recommendation
Install 5.1.6.2 (downloaded)
reboot as per the bosboot reconfig recommendation

My biggest recommendation to you is not to ignore the the bosboot updates
requiring reboots between EACH AND EVERY step of the upgrade. I did
encounter some funnies (although nothing too fatal) on AIX after upgrading
without the reboots which I later resolved by re-trying the upgrade and
doing the reboots. As for the NT side of things I have never been there to
find out.

Also the reason for going to 5.1.6.2 is that it was the latest level
available when I started testing. I am a great believer in going for the
highest levels available when upgrading, as these are normally the least
bugged!

Cheers

Andy Wilcox
