Kai, We are 4.1 and it looks the /.../u01/.../* works for this version. If
we use the exclude.fs /u02/* this will still backup everything.  I think
that if we upgrade to a higher level like version 5 maybe this will go away.
Any Suggestions?

You don't say which version of TSM you are using, but if it is anywhere near
recent, and you want to exclude the entire file system then I would say
exclude.fs /u01
exclude.fs /u02
...
