I'll address this last item:

HSM works well in the following environment: 1) the client is a large file
server with a high percentage of static, unaccessed files; 2) the tape
library has a fast mount and seek time (the IBM 3575 comes to mind); and 3)
the client has a large *fast* processor.

Disk Xtender 2000 is pretty hard on the processor during the windows you set
for its activity. I would *never* run it during the production day, and I
would not run it during backup times. I wish that OTG had developed a
TSM-compliant HSM client for Windows, instead of an HSM server.

I wish wish wish that Tivoli would create an HSM client for Windows. I know
it will never happen, because of the robust server functionalities that
Microsoft's server OSs have never had. But one can hope...
