Following the thread I cannot see the names of devices used. The 3583
should use LBx.x.x.x for the changer but \\.\TAPE0 and \\.\TAPE1 for
drives (using IBM Ultrium device driver for NT/2000 not ADSMSCSI)!!! If
this is not please ignore this.

Another important step to perform is increase of maximum S/G list of the
QL2x00 adapter in windoze - I set it to the top (255). It is described in
Tivoli Flash 3 (http://www.tivoli.com/support/storage_mgr/flash_hba.html).
And you have to be careful - in some activities on the windoze box the
MaxSGList value is reset.

For the "IBM Gateway Module SCSI Array Device" - you can safely ignore it.
This is for SCSI ESS (Shark) attached through standalone SDG (2108-G07).
In fact SDG module for 3583 is just the same. If you prefer to live
without it at all, check the SDG Module Guide and there is a command to
disable this functionality (sorry, cannot recall it from memory).

All,

I have a new install of TSM 5.1 on a Windows platform. After the
initial installation by one of my colleagues, backups were working fine.
After a week though, communication to the tape library/drives failed.
Now we are not even able to checkin or checkout tapes from the library.
All operations to the library fail now. The one thing that I am not
that familiar with is the built-in SAN Data Gateway. I am using the IBM
Ultrium device driver for the drives but the 3583 library is controlled
by the TSM device driver. In device manager there are yellow
exclamations over both the library (which is normal) and the "IBM
Gateway Module SCSI Array Device." I downloaded and installed the SAN
Data Gateway driver but that didn't seem to help.
