I don't like client side compression unless I am network constrained. In
almost all cases (and certainly all cases I have tried) compression actually
increased elapsed backup times. Most networks are sufficient to perform
backups without interupting other traffic so don't compress.
I'm thinking this .nsf file is newly arrived on your server and that it is
compressed. YOu haven't seen this before because you haven't had this file
before. I'll wager that turning compression off will fix this problem for
you.
